anyone know how many AMEX points per dollar?

the fine print I saw the other day when researching Blue Cash was that your returns were determined on how much you spent every year (different brackets)...or is this a different program?
 
i charge my AMEX blue for students card quite often but i rarely get any points

just the other day, i charged up $1400+ and only have 40 pending points

i don't understand how I'm getting 1 point for virtually every dollar i'm spending, can someone please explain this to me?

 
Hmm.. I know that with my Amex every dollar I spend, no matter what it is on, adds another point. I have Amex Gold card.
