I have a feeling we are gonna get another great depression especially since the maniacs in charge of this country keep bailing businesses and are really hungry for a war with Iran. I'd really like to buy gold to help keep me secure from the corrupt banksters known as the federal reseve.

dude, go to Khol's when their jewelry goes on sale... buy it in bulk, melt it and bam!

you are set...

you know what's interesting, you can google it, you know?

AM 1280 The Patriot in Minnesota always has advertisements on that stuff, "buy gold now, there's no better time!"

corrupt banksters... you gotta figure, one anti-matter missile, I mean, not to be pess. or morbid or anything, provided a strong enough vortex spread, could wipe out the power grid to millions of computers in the United States.

So banksters, corrupt, I wouldn't blame them if all your money went missing. Blame the scientists who helped develop the weapons (I mean, ... come on, the possibilities are endless), you can't blame bankers! Haven't you seen Dark Knight_!?

p.s. don't blame the sci's or the bankers, blame the gov. -but if you can't blame anyone anymore, blame the A.I. script programmers that will make robots more human-like.

If you are going to buy gold, I recommend you take physical delivery of it, not a piece of paper that says you own X ounces in a warehouse somewhere.

You can get gold bars, gold jewelry, or gold coins. I recommend coins because those are the easiest to sell. One ounce gold bullion coins like the American Gold Eagle will cost you the least premium over spot price. You can buy smaller coins but you'll pay a higher percentage over the value of the gold.

apmex.com, kitco.com and tulving.com have competitive prices and you can use those as a benchmark to shop around.

Right now, gold spot is $781. apmex is charging $830 for a one ounce AGE and $88 for a 1/10 ounce AGE. kitco is asking $823 for a one ounce AGE. tulving is asking $820 for a one ounce AGE (minimum purchase 5 ounces).

While we're dealing, got any use for a nice bridge?

Authentic gold? As opposed to the gold foil wrapped chocolate variety? Anyway, you realize that if the crap really hits the fan, your gold isn't going to get you shinola. Starving or desperate people have very little use for shiny metal.........

The best way to stave off disaster is to get a secure warehouse of non perishable food and water. Like jmman said gold won't matter when you're hungry.

Gold is already hella high right now. It came down some though. But still it's over double what it was. You missed the boat on that. Gotta jump in earlier. However things can be getting a lot worse so still may be a good idea to buy gold. More banks are going to fail and we have a whole new wave of bad mortgages coming in soon all the way through till 2011. (the Alt - A loans). We are not even close to this mess being over. We've only really seen 4 states get hit super hard and look what they did, wait till the other 46 states start crapping out hard core. We're screwed.

Anyway here ya go: https://online.kitco.com/bullion/completelist.html

Remember if you buy bars, and wish to sell, the potential buyer may require the bars to be assayed (to verify gold content), and that will mean less money for you plus a delay.
