Anyone know how good visiontek video cards are?

I was about to bid for a visiontek geforce2 gts 64 meg ddr at ubid for ~$130. I wasn't sure about the company, and whether it makes a difference if I buy a 65meg ddr card from visiontek vs. msi vs. leadtek, etc. Is this a good price for the card? Alternatives would be appreciated. Thanks.

Theyre awsome, no frills, cards. VisionTek was a major OEM manufacturor before they went Retail, and big name companies used them like Dell, Gateway, and Compaq.

Well Nvidia used them to design the reference board for the geforce 3, so that should tell you something.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the 64meg version performs significantly better than the 32meg version?

if you're going to get a 64 mb GTS, might as well go for the pro. They cost about the same and the pro is clocked to give you better performance.

Newegg has msi pro version for 142 plus 10 shipping = 152. As of right now, if i win my bid, I'll be paying 124 + 6 shipping = 130 for the standard 64meg ddr. Is it worth the extra $22 based on performance difference?

I personally believe so. The 64 mb on the geforce2 gts will only give you slightly better performance in very high resolutions (where the geforce2 gts will likely not be of any use anyway) or in FSAA. But you should be the one making that decision. compare the benchmarks on the geforce2 GTS 64 mb and the Geforce2 pro, and see which one you would prefer

Thanks, I checked out the benchmarks. I agree with you, the performance is better for the slightly higher price.

glad to be of service
just make sure that it is a TRUE pro card ie. 5 ns ram (not 5.5 ns) and 64 mb not 32 mb of RAM
