Yeh my ti4200 died in my older system with a ABIT BH6 motherboard that is only 1x2x agp
at 3.3v. I need to know if 9700 pros can run in it, I know 9600 pros can for sure but not the 9700 pro. I was gonna pick up the 9600 pro on ebay but the 9700 pros are about the same
price, so I figure I get that if it will work in the motherboard.
thanks for any replies

Matt155: I think it should, also the AGP slot as far as I know is built so that you can't accidently plug in an incompatible card into it (someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this).
The reason why I think it sould work is that I just installed a Radeon 9800SE on my friend's only P2 motherboard, the Aopen AX6BC board, also AGP 1x/2x and it works just fine.

Edit:
By the way I've just did a search on Google and come across this link
It does say the Radeon 9700 is compatible with AGP 3.3v, 1.5v and 0.8v.

Just be sure you have a good 300W PSU. If you don't have a pretty fast Tualeron or Tualatin in there, though, that'll be some serious GPU overkill. :)

You might also consider this $150 9700 if eBay or AT FS/T don't have what you want.

Hmmm so according to both of you the 9600 and 9800 will run on older motherboards that just supported AGP
Version 1 which is (1x) and (2x) which is 3.3 volts. According to this website the 9500 and 9700 can handle the (2x) 3.3 volts of the older motherboards and the 9600 and 9800 can only do the (4x) 1.5 volts? Very strange? Check out this link.

I didn't even catch what the OP said about the 9600. Only the 9500 and 9700 will work with AGP 1.0/3.3V. The 9600 and 9800 are AGP2.0+/1.5V- only, AFAIK, as that ATi page states. I'm surprised tungtung's 9800SE worked on that MB. Maybe the 9800SE was simply a renamed 9500/P? Odd.

Hmm ... actually I'm clueless about this ... I was just looking at the 9700 when I saw this chart ... hehehe ...
However from I have read ... if a card won't work with AGP 3.3 then you won't be able to plug it into the motherboard ...

Well as far as my 9800SE ... until today it's working like a charm ... :D ... then again as far as I know ATI doesn't actually produce 9800SE do they? ... so could be that this is just for the cards made by ATI ...

ATI doesn't make any card, they (like BFG, XFX, etc., etc.) hire someone like Sapphire or MSI to make some for them and slap on some ATI stickers.

Yeah, I think it's a matter of keying, too. Maybe you just got a strange 9800SE? As long as it works for you, that's cool. I just don't think 9800s in general will work with (or are keyed to work in) AGP 1.0/3.3V slots.
