Anyone know anything about the Tyan Thunder 2500?

I need a board that can support ALOT of RAM and this one seems to be a good bet since I really don't want to shell out for a Quad Xeon board.

Anyone have any experience with this bad boy? If so, thumbs up, thumbs down?

thanks

I've heard that for a server, it's a great buy, but the Serverworks chipset has some issues with AGP video cards, so workstation performance isn't that great. Also, using Tyan's BIOS, you can't use the USB ports under Win2k (Win98 works, though). I've got one, but it was sent to me DOA, so I can't comment on performance, but people I've heard from say it's extremely fast (except for the AGP). The dual interleaved memory gives a nice performance boost. I'm getting a replacement for mine, so if you haven't bought one yet, let me know if you want mine.

I own a Thunder 2500. Can't comment to much on AGP issues since I have and ATI AIW 128 and have never had issues with it. Phoenix Bios is sparce and support from Tyan is non-existant. It is a great board none the less. I have not been able to get slockets to work on it Asus 370DL, or Powerleap's slocket. That means that you will have to get Slot 1. You might want to look at AMD 760 MP platforms or Super Micro's 370DE6.

I just got one actually, haven't set it up yet at all but I am hoping things go well. I hear alot of negative comments about the AGP and USB for sure. Has anyone been able to get USB to work successfully? I am using slot chips so that is at least one positive thing.
