Anyone know anything about routers?

Hi, I was just wondering if any of you know anything about routers. I got a linksys BEFSR11 router. It works beautifully and everything. But the only problem is AIM and mIRC. For some reason, in AIM I can't send or recieve files from people. In mIRC I can't serve files to people. I know this is the router because when I don't use it, this doesn't happen. But right now I have no choice but to use it. So if does anyone know if there is some sort of setting that can help rid this problem? Thanks.
 
Yup...you'll need to set up both pcs to either use a socks server, or open up those respective ports on the router.
