Anyone know anything about routers?

Hi, I was just wondering if any of you know anything about routers. I got a linksys BEFSR11 router. It works beautifully and everything. But the only problem is AIM and mIRC. For some reason, in AIM I can't send or recieve files from people. In mIRC I can't serve files to people. I know this is the router because when I don't use it, this doesn't happen. But right now I have no choice but to use it. So if does anyone know if there is some sort of setting that can help rid this problem? Thanks.

i think you have to configure both programs to go through a firewall, as the linksys uses a hardware firewall

Yup...you'll need to set up both pcs to either use a socks server, or open up those respective ports on the router.

or u can put urself on dmz. but i wouldnt recommend it hehe
