I live in a small town and I don't think anyone is throwing them over the fence. It could be my dogs killing them. They definately got the first one, but the others don't have any marks on them. And why would they even come in my yard at all? As it, I am sure reeks of doggy smell. Also where is their mommy in all this? Could the city be poisoning? If so, don't they have to notify?

Could be, god only knows what really happened to them. Sad though, to find so many. :(

I thought that too and looked around the neighborhood. I did find 1 dead adult but it looked like it had been there for a few weeks at least, and the babies would've have been too small to survive this long with out a mommy.

Opposums don't generally put off a pleasing odor, so the smell of dog would do nothing to deter them. In fact, if you feed your dogs outside that may just draw them in. They are efficient scavengers, and any pet food outside is an open invitation for them. Count your blessings that you have five dead babies instead of five hungry adults.

Yeah I know it's almost like they are commiting suicide, b/c unless they are already dying on their way in the dogs WILL get them...

I don't feed outside, never have and there is no food outside either.

I know that if you kick one, it will follow you for a couple of km's in a very bad mood
