anyone know anything about mono? (the illness?)

in particular, how cantagious-sp is it, and how quickly can one find out if they have it?

takes two or three day to come out
takes between one and three months to go away

Sucks to have it. I slept for 16+ hours for 4 wks and still felt tired.

Don't kiss/drink after/share toothbrushes with someone who has it.

Make sure the whoever has it rests as much as possible for as long as possible. Nothing strenuous. If they have a relapse it will be even worse than it was the first time.

And, of course, see a damn doctor.

Nope, only if you exchanged body fluids commonly through saliva (kissing or sharing drinks).

But you can catch it from someone that doesn't exhibit signs of mono. It's a virus and once infected you'll have that virus in you for life; you just won't show any symptoms after the first time.

Sometimes you can have it with tests for it coming back negative.

Can get pretty bad - my cousin ended up in the hospital because of it. Something with her spleen.

I think I had it once even though the tests were negative. You can just be so tired and weak when you have it. It sucks.

kids mom says she cant take him because she thinks she has mono....I knew she was BSing and stopped answering her calls an hour ago (17 missed calls on my phone right now)

Why couldnt I have a normal kids mom????

EDIT: her only sign of illness is a sore throat.
