This winter I plan on heading up to Lake Tahoe..and what better car to drive in the snow than a small two seat convertible right?? :)

I was wondering then, what kind of snow tires I should be looking at? I'm looking for something cheap but will do the job for me? Any suggestions??

I realize this is a computer forum but I was told I can get some car help here??

nope miatas definately come in convertible mode!

hahaa

anyways i recommend going to www.tirerack.com inputting ur tire size (or model or whatever) and finding some cheap snow tires...also get them mounted on steel rims so u can switch easily in winter (or have someone do it for u)

poor viper, he's losing it. most every miata i see is convertible these days.

i'd rather have a Z though:) so sweet. both nice though.

as for suggestions, i doubt you should rely on just opinions posted here. go to the library and dig up the latest consumer guide testing out tires.

you'll need to carry chains too.

don't forget the chains...

Every Miata has a removable top, they have always been like that.

But that does not necessarily make them a convertible.

Technically, they are a roadster.

There is a difference.

I'll take the first $100/$1000/$whatever
Unless you are gonna start with 'convertible', 'roadster', 'cabriolet', 'drop-head coupe', etc.

let's see what dictionary.com has to say...

con·vert·i·ble Pronunciation Key (kn-vûrt-bl)
adj.
That can be converted: a convertible sofa bed.
Having a top that can be folded back or removed: a convertible automobile.

that's pretty definitive to me!

Tahoe is sweet. I went there about a year ago and loved it. I can't wait to go back sometime.

Have fun!

A couple years ago I replaced some run of the mill, all season tires on my wife's van, with some Michelin LTX M/S. Their grip in the snow is phenomenal. The difference from the old tires is day and night. You want to be able to stop as well as go. Putting snow tires on the rear won't help much with stopping. I don't know which of their passenger car tires is equivalent to the LTX, but it would be worth looking into. Michelins cost more, but they're WORTH IT!
