Anyone know anything about Invisalign?

Seen the commercial, saw the site, read the material

Now the question is, does it work?

Anyone have any personal experience or know anyone with them?

I may be taking action to correct some of the crowding of my lower teeth, so i'd like to see what my options are at this point

i am in the process of starting treatment myself....

couple pts. u may or may not know...

-It's expensive: my treatment is about $5 G's
-After treatment, you will most likely have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life.
-During treatment, you cannot eat or drink w/ braces on. You must take them off, eat or drink, them brush your teeth first before u put them back on. (sounds like big hassle)
-You are more cavity prone w/ them on. If you get a cavity, you will have to get a filling, and get refitting for braces which is extra $$.

Invisalign works. It's just an invisible alignment. What you should ask yourself is the severity of your crowding. There are some things that invisalign will not do as good as the conventional braces would. Try visiting the site for details: Invisalign.

The cost varies from city to city and state to state. Some orthodontists have it priced at relatively the same cost as metal braces. Other orthodontists have it priced significantly higher than the metal braces. If you're using insurance or discount services, you may be better off with braces since most don't cover invisalign, so you'll end up paying for invisalign at full cost or metal braces at discount price.

i think i'm just more concerned with whehter it works in the long run or not, especially compared to traditional braces, which is why i'd like some testimonials from someone who's completing/been through the treatment.

how much more of a hassle than traditional braces, etc etc.

i wasn't aware of the lifelong retainer or cavity issue though, thanks for the notice

well, my orthodontist said that even w/ traditional braces, or any kind really, u might have to wear retainer ur whole life. Your teeth tend to go back to the way they were before.

Funny,

I was just going to post the same message when I searched for yours.

Pursuant to the lifelong retainer issue: Why would the need to wear a retainer for the rest of your life be any different after Invisalign than with regular metal braces?

I can't understand why the method of moving teeth affects how they move after you're finished.

During my first bout with (metal) braces, I neglected to wear my retainer (or at least not as long as I should have) and had quite a bit of spacing develop on my uppers with crowding of my lowers.

What is the experience of other folks with braces? Have you're teeth remained as straight as they were just after the braces were removed?
