Anyone know anything about industrial robotics?

Where I work we have GE Fanuc M710i robots that back our glass ware on the pallets. Now maybe its just me but it seem like these robots are absolute garbage...I think they use a UNIX os but I'm not sure. I set them up via a little control pad (called a teach pendant) and it just seems so...junky. Even though they cost like 300,000 bucks. ANyone know anything they'd like to share?

I can't right now, just got a page, We run AcuFab robots, they are actually pretty durable but are a pain to teach. Back in a bit.
