i have a umax astra 3400 scanner. it's never worked since its been in my posession, and ive finally gotten around to opening it up to look inside.
the power light has always came on ok, but nothing after that. the scanner does not reset the position of the light bar thing, which i know it should.
i think there may be a missing piece- there are two flat strips that appear to be cables kinda, one is fat and the other is very thin, i can see about 5 wires running the length of it.
the fat one has a small metal object about 1.5 inches long keeping it in place on the bottom inside panel of the scanner. at can be seen through the glass. its not a magnet, but its the same color... that piece is missing from the thin cable though, does anyone think that this may be keeping the scanner from working?
