I've been looking for a car here lately (just turned 16 about a week ago, looking for a first car) and a '93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme caught my eye the other day, turns out one of my dad's friends co-workers is selling it, my dad's friend is trying to find someone to buy it and says its in pretty good shape. He's asking $2500 for it and its got 101k miles on it. It's nothing fancy but it drives great and truly I feel really comfortable driving it. I was wondering if some of you guys know how long engines/transmissions last on these normally, pretty much everything thats in it was in it when it was bought new. I also figure insurance would be fairly cheap on this, which is one major reason (other than only having $3k for a car right now) I'm not getting a newer car. Anyone know anything about these?

I had a 95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme up until about a month ago. It was a good car, in my family the whole time..only had 57K miles on it. LIttle things were starting to break though (it was 9 years old!) had problems with batteries, and the windshield wiper motor broke...we sold the 95, fully loaded two door coupe with a sunroof for $4500.

that sounds a lot like this one, its a two door coupe (and the a/c even works :p) with sunroof. so you didn't have any problems with the engine or transmission? my dad has a '95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and had to have the engine replaced and the transmission rebuilt. I didn't know if this was an average Oldsmobile thing, after they hit 95k or so it will need engine or transmission replaced. All thats really wrong with this one that i can tell is the passenger side mirror is gone which isn't really that big of a deal. it looks like a pretty solid car to me, everyone is telling me it would make a good first car.

I (along with many others including BMWs) got 0wned by a 88 Cutlass Ciera Euro at the auto-cross.

They are decent cars. Quite reliable from my experience.

99 Maxima. My only recourse is that the guy was on 235/16s ContiSport tires while I was on my 205 crappy all seasons. he shocked a lot of people though, well that's wat happens when you have years of experience in autocross.

You should try lookng int othe Pontiac 6000LE AWD model. Its uber rare and uber cool.
