Anyone know anything about cacti?

When I moved into my new house 1.5 years ago, I dropped my cactus and 2 of the 3 stems (if you can call them that) broke. Not broken off, just had a crack in them.

I ended up sticking the pot on some shelf in the basement with no light and no water and have left it there for the last year and a half.

I looked at it today and 2 of the 3 stems have withered and are just totally dead.

The interesting thing is that there is one stem that looks green like the day I stuck it on the shelf. Even more interesting is that it's one of the stems that has a crack in it. (it's about half severed.

Do you think I can revive this plant? How the hell is it still (apparently) alive??

It fell on my foot, punctured my foot in about 23 places and I got angry. It was sentenced to that shelf.

Honestly, I just forgot about it. I found it when I was cleaning up the laundry room.

Just don't over water it. I had one, and it hollowed itself out--probably one of the most creepy things I've seen.

yea i dunno. if there is a green stem, give it more water and it'll probably shoot to life. it was probably pulling enough water out of the atmosphere (can all cacti do that?)...
