Anyone know anything about Arx fans?

I'm doing some work on a friend's computer (PC clone, P4), and there's an exit fan on the rear. The brand name on it is Arx, and the model # is FD1280-B2012E (too bad they couldn't come up with a longer model # :disgust: ). It's an average looking 80mm DC brushless fan, approximately 3 years old.

Anyway, I've never heard of this brand and was wondering if any of you guys have anything notably good or bad to say about this fan (or the company in general). I googled it and got the company's Taiwanese Web site, but a search for this particular fan came up empty. Only thing I could really discern from the site is that some (or all?) of their fans are "ceramic inside." I have no idea of the significance of that.

I was thinking of replacing this fan with a Panaflo, just for peace of mind if nothing else, but thought I'd ask here first. If the Arx happens to be a great fan or something, I'd hate to replace it for no reason.

Anyone?

Google search on the first half of that number gives info... Not much, but some... From this page you can find some spec's... Not sure if it lists the very specific fan, but it does have the ARX FD1280-B20 1E listed... 21.67CFM at 27db... Not the worst, but by no means a great fan. You can get fans that push more air at less db very easily.

Thanks for that page link. I've just bookmarked it for future reference.

Actually, if you look again, the CFM spec for that fan is 29.77, not 21.67. I think the 21.67 spec is for air pressure. No prob though, and I don't even know if that's the same fan as the one in my friend's machine 'cuz the chart doesn't have that exact number. Whatever ... no sweat. :)

I'd be a bit surprised if this fan is putting out 29.77 CFM. Holding my hand right next to it, I can barely feel any air at all coming out. (And yeah, it's oriented correctly.) Maybe it's a different fan ... I dunno.

I think I may put a PCP&C Silencer fan in its place. It's rated at 27CFM and 20 or 21 db, if memory serves, so that should make for a nice combo of CFM and low noise. :D

Thanks for your help. :)

CFM to dBA specs are tricky, you can't take them very seriously.

Having said that Panaflow's (80-92mm) move the most air for the least amount of dBA.

Actually the SilenX's cfm/dba ratio is tops in the market. They cannot be beat even by panaflo's. :)
