anyone know anything about art photography?

Nothing intelligent needs to be said. Unless you like it. Find your reasons why you don't like it, and you're set. I don't see any art in that photograph, I see trash. Then again, I hate the post-modern photography movement. Most of it is akin to drawing random lines on a canvas and it being called art... and that shit sells too. I don't get the world these days when it comes to the post-modern art movement. Worst shit to be passed off as art I've ever seen. The modernist movement was alright, but I think formal photography, not necessarily related to any movement, is where the good stuff is at.

I'm assuming this is a response to my reply, and not agreeing with me...

Maybe it's a bad reproduction of the photo, but I don't see anything in that photograph worthy of being called art. Nor do I want to waste time actually making an intelligent critique of the photo, at least before I get a response from loki as to what the purpose is of this post.

Or.... were you agreeing with me? I am confused. And tired. :laugh:

Anyone read the article where they ask a so called expert to tell the difference between works by famous abstract artists and children?

Yea they couldn't tell the difference.

the photographer is my cousin... it's from an art review magazine that recently ran a thing on her. I feel like I have to say something intelligent in response to it without sounding like I'm just parroting the article. lol.

apparently the thing is like 8' tall, which might account for how it comes out in the pic from the magazine.

okay, then half of what I dislike about it is probably due to horrible reproduction of the original. Is the art piece actually a photograph, or is it... as I am kind of imagining, two photographs reproduced on some kind of sheet material? Or made to appear that way, but really is just something edited? Is it something digitally manipulated?
That's the other thing I dislike about the most recent post-modernist art... digital manipulation. Ugh.

first of all, the photo doesnt seem to make much sense. the only thing i have derived from it is the possible correlation to a yin yang.
otherwise the left kinda looks like a thing of weed to me and the right side looks like a really nappy head of hair.... all of this on top of foil or plastic wrap.

it kinda looks like shit.... what was the objective to the photo?

anyways, i am a professional photographer but i photograph children, and people etc... not this hippie looking shit

Yes it's SFW. I can't even comprehend the image... It just doesnt make sense in my head. Not "good" art...
