I could use a surround system in one of our rooms and stumbled across this craigslist posting. Does anyone know anything about those speakers or how good of a deal this is? I can't seem to find much online about them other than the amazon.com reviews that are linked.

That's a nice deal assuming everything works right. That's the Bic H-100 Subwoofer that you see people rave about on here (and elsewhere). I have one, and its a really solid subwoofer.

I've never heard the Audiovox speakers he's selling but they get good reviews. I'd imagine you'd need a fairly strong receiver to power them well, but provided that it would be a very good setup for a good price.

Just make sure you test everything out before buying.

As with others, I vouch for that sub as it is fantastic, but I know nothing of the speakers.

I have a pair of BIC RTR-1530 speakers in my basement. They are maybe 5 or so years old. They pretty much sound the same to me as Cerwin Vega's.
That said, my hearing is pretty average, I don't have the ability to notice a lot of the nuances that some audiophile types can.

I'd rate the ones I have the following ...
7/10 for overall sound quality (With KLH speakers being 1/10, cheap paper drivers being 2/10 and stuff like Bose being 3 or 4 out of 10.)
10/10 for sound quality on the dollar
9/10 for minimal loss of sound quality at loud volumes
10/10 for durabillity
1/10 for their portability and compact size (the ones I have weigh 90 pounds and stand taller than a large midget)

I can't speak for whatever model speakers are in the craigslist add, since I don't have access to that site from here, but I like my BIC speakers, and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.
