Anyone know anyone who works at First Magnus

I live in AZ and the local First Magnus branch aka Charter Funding closed its doors this morning. They are apparently no longer funding any home mortgage loans. Apparently employees caught wind that the branch might be closing via the internet/email last night and showed up for work today to closed doors. I don't see how a large company can simply "close its doors" on its employees w/o any kind of heads up. I know people who work there and they are simply out of a job. All of these people had what I would call "good" jobs prior to this closing and obviously depended on their employer for pay and benefits. As far as I know their benefits are cut off as well, but I am not positive. I guess I naively thought businesses would at least keep up the pay and benefits for their employees for 2 weeks in an event like this.

Anyone know any more details about this?

I don't think you would have an issue if you had a mortgage through them as they typically sign you up for the loan, fund it, and then sell the loan to someone else. The only way a customer might be screwed over by this event is if they were approved for a loan but it had not been funded yet. I doubt it would get funded at this point and you would be left hanging.
