Ok, I had a tv before and after years of use it started to devolope a horizontal line that went from bottom to top of screen, It starts off good, the slowly gets bad. And bought another tv couple year ago, and it to is started to do this, It's not the cable signal because It does it with dvd player (with coax unpluged) using s-video or composite (same with both). Is there something in my house thats screwing these tvs up or is it just time for me to give up and buy an expensive lcd tv ??

dvd player, entertainment system. thats about it. Speakers are shielded and are all atleast 1 - 2 feet from tv. Okay, I just now unhooked everything and hooked it back up again and it seems my dvd player isnt doing it now, and SOME cable channels arnt doing it. Very odd considering the signal is exelent, my cable modem is reporting fantastic signals on its page (as well as 10ms ping to isp with 0% loss) and all my other tvs are fine...

it actually sounds like something beyond your tv/signal...sounds funny but outside interference can wreak havoc on your tv...usually its things that give off vibrations...do you live in an apartment? could be a neighbors vaccum/dishwasher/blender...

Low voltage wall outlet perhaps.........Play detective.....
Too many receptacles on the same circuit,..fridge, dishwasher, toaster, etc. ????????
Try checking the voltage of the wall outlet when the lines are showing up.
Try plugging into a wall outlet as far away as you can with a heavy duty extension cord (get on another circuit).

If that doesn't give any results, then I would suspect inteference from neighbors and investigate that.

Any TV, even cheapos, should run fine without that horizontal line, hey borrow somebody elses TV and try it.

Good Luck........

ya, you can try your tv in someone else's house or you can have them hook theirs up in your place. See if it has the same effect.

Oddly enough I just moved everything and now I dont see it no more at all.. Very odd, something must of been touching or something (interferance).
