Anyone know about taking defensive driving online in Texas? Bacon *pic*

Hell, to even drive in Texas you shoudl take a defensive driving course!!! They drive like MANIACS there~!!!!!!! :Q

yep you go to arraignment and plea nolo contendre (no contest) and then ask for defensive driving. unless you do something really stupid (30+mph over, or run over kid in school zone doing 60) the judge will let you do that to defer the ticket. pay your court costs and take the defensive driving, unless you got nabbed by the DPS.

take the course within (usually 90 days) of arraignment, and turn it back into the court. its like a 6hr course. upon completetion, the ticket is wiped out from your public record and insurance doesnt know about it.

So I have to go to court on my scheduled court date? The back of the ticket lets me say I want to take defensive driving, but I have to pay them $95.. But then there is the fee for defensivedriving.com. Do I have to pay both?

Check the back of the ticket. You can also call the DPS.

When I got a speeding ticket, I checked a couple of boxes on the back saying "nolo contendre" and requested the DD option. I mailed it in along with the required speeding fee.

A week or two later, they mailed me a form saying I can take the DD option and that I have until xxx to complete the course and send a bunch of stuff back to them.

I never stepped foot in the DPS or courthouse for all this.

I heard they were shutting Melrose down next year, at least that is what they told a friend who was trying to get apt there.
