looking to buy a sewing machine and spend ~$100, nothing to special needed, but would like a good one.

Amazon.com has a lot of factory refurbished ones that normally go for $300 going for ~$100 but the reviews on the site are mixed.

anyone have any suggestions about the best place to get one?
 
you're a little late...jo-ann's had a great doorbuster for a MSRP 199 machine for 72.99...my gf bought one...they're still there, but 86 now....
