my younger sister took out her friend's car one day and hit something. the rear bumper supposedly fell off and also damaged the light housing on the side of the bumper. the parents of the friend took the car into a bodyshop and they said it would cost $768.46 to fix. my sister doesn't want to tell our parents b/c she's gotten into an accident before, so i guess i have to help my sister out in paying for this. i was wondering if that seems a little expensive for a rear bumper/light housing/labor. i really don't know much about bodywork on a car and i would really like to get some advice on the price. thanks for the help... any is greatly appreciated.

LABOR?!?! Labor my @$$! Those body shop guys do so little and earn so much...

The rear taillamp and resecuring the bumper is something you can do with hand tools yourself. You may be missing a bolt or screw but if you have the rear bumper still, it's not a big cost. The big cost might be rear bumper + paint. If you can find a bumper from a junkyard or used parts dealer with the same color, just wash and wax... badabing. Otherwise, yes, it will cost around $200-300 for the bumper, another $250 for the lights (have to buy both), and $250 for paint/labor.

I smashed up my front end, I needed a new bumper, hood, light fixture, and the little honda sign. Also need to bang out some stuff.

The parts cost 465$. and The labor with painting and clear coat and everything was 550$ (this is canadian prices. Seems a little high to me.
