i'm particularly interested in getting a wireless network card for my laptop so i can use it at school and secondly start researching on wireless networking products at home...

anyone know of a good site that has good (reliable) reviews? i dont really trust cnet...thanks in advance~!





btw anyone have any suggestions as to what i should get exactly(brand/model)?

Agreed.

You don't have to shell out big $ for a genuine Orinoco Gold PCMCIA 802.11b WiFi card for your laptop though. I bought a Dell TrueMobile 1150 (rebadged Orinoco Gold) directly from Dell or you could always buy one from eBay for a little less. The card works GREAT in my Compaq Presario 1500T, excellent range and strong signal strength. It's also important to get a good WAP as well. If you're on a budget, I would suggest heading to your local Radio Shack ASAP for this $49 Compaq WAP.

oh yeah and one more thing...how will i know for sure if this orinco pc card is compatible with my laptop? my lappie is sorta old...hp pavilion 433mhz celeron setup blah blah...it's about 4-5 years old.
