I already have a budget, I just need an app that lets me quickly add expenses and categorize them and show me how much I have left on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. I don't need advanced features like bill tracking, recurring payments, reports, etc. I just need an app that is simple and works. I've looked at 50 different ones on the app store but they all seem to be garbage.

It's perfectly fine to post this in MD&G, but I think you'll get better responses in All Things Apple, so I'm moving it.

Short answer: mint. Long answer: ...Also has a webiste, mint.com. I use it to get a snapshot of my finances. You basically tell it all of your financial institutions user IDs and passwords. It's built by Intuit, the people who make Quicken, so it's trustworthy. It's the only one I've ever heard of that is free & works well. You can set up budgets and spending alerts, etc, but I mainly use it to show me how much is in each account and what the balance is on my CC.
* I am not employed by Quicken or any financial institution, FYI.

I use mint and its awesome for the computer, I didn't like it very much on iPhone, but that was when it first came out so maybe they've fixed the app.

I just set everything up online and it will SMS you if there is a threshold thats been crossed, which is good enough for me.

I like Mint's emails. "Hey douchebag, you're spending too much on booze"

Well they aren't really like that.

But the reminders are nice.

I use Mint on my iPhone and from their website. The iPad version is apparently really nice too, which I haven't gotten around to using yet.
