I went to real estate school and became a licensed sales associate when I was 19 (I'm 22 now).
Once I got my license, I found out that you had to pay about $1500 to join a broker. I didn't have that kind of money back then, so I placed my license in escrow. I've neglected to pay the escrow fees the past couple of years.
I heard a friend at work say that he wanted to get involved in real estate and it reminded me of my license. I called our state license bureau and the timing couldn't be any better (worse?). They said that I have until April 1st, 2005 (2 days) to write them a check for $310 to keep my license in escrow, otherwise the license is cancelled.
I think I'm going to go ahead and pay it. Even though I haven't made a dime from real estate, I'll still keep the license in escrow in case one day I have enough time to show houses .
