Anyone into insurance or realestate sales?

I've been unemployed for a while and thinking about going into sales.

I'm pretty good at social interactions and all my friends think i would make a good salesman.

Any of you guys work in the insurance or real estate field and can give me more insights? pros and cons of each fields?

Also the realistic earnings potential in the first few years assuming that I would be average in terms of number of sales.

Any advice/insights would be greatly appreciated.
