Anyone installed FLEXO PET Sleeving for wire management?

I have used it and it went pretty well.

Here is a tutorial on how to do a PSU at Virtual Hideout.

I used 1/4" for my 4 pin molex connectors and 1/8" for my fan wires and other small things. If you need to do your PSUs motherboard connector, good luck...., you will probably need 1/2" sleeving. To finish off the ends I used electrical take and small zip ties. Heat shrink tubing looks a bit better though.

Thanks for the info... Actually my motherboard connector came with a sleeve around it stock... Antec True 430. Im gonna be putting all the power cords into the UV Reactive sleeving...

Im hoping i got enough, but i might need to pick up some more from svc... I only have 10 feet.
 
I have the Truepower 430 as well. I purchased 5 ft of 1/8" and 10ft of 1/4". The 10ft of 1/4" was just enough to do the main power lines. You will have to plan ahead and cut wisely to make sure you distribute what you have the best. As for the PSU fan monitoring line, you probably won't have enough to do that. I used 1/8" for it.

It can be a real pita doing it as the ends will shrivel and come apart as you are shoving it over all the wires. I put heatshrink on all of mine and it looks great now that I am done. Maybe I'll post a pic of it.
 
You can take the wires out of the 4 pin molex and 3 pin wires (well just about any connector really). And the best way to finish it off is with heat shrink tubing.
 
I'm about to start sleeving all my cables once the materials arrive (hopefully this weekend). First time I've done it so hopefully I can follow the VH guide well enough. 🙂
 
Be sure to reconnect the connectors the exact same way you found them, that means the black (grounds) wires as well.
I thought all I had to be careful with was the the red and yellow wires, and messed up an Enermax psu. If I wasn't curious and posted questions to the forum, I might have destroyed a brand new system. Luckily I experimented with a an old two gig drive. Still you can't RMA something after you messed with it. So I'm out an expensive PSU.

I've been told that I can retrace the wires and connect them the correct way (I only sleeved two molex cables), but I don't have the electrical know-how. So I basically bought another one at Perfomance PC's in which they will do (for a very pretty penny) the PITA sleeving for you.

If I had to do it again I would take a marker or colored tape and mark each wire at the connectors to make sure I kept things straight. I did discover that you can keep the sleeving from fraying by melting the ends a little before you begin.
It looked nice, but it was a pc death trap waiting to happen.

Take it from a noob, even something that seems simple with modding a pc....often isn't. :|
 
I've used the UV reactive Flexo Pet sleeving from SVC, it looks great! I will give you one tip: as soon as you cut the appropriate amount for your wire(s) take a lighter (or use the stove top fire 😀) and "burn off" the edges of the sleeving. This way all of the microscopic wires that the sleeving has will not separate and come off after you cut it.
 
Thanks for the tips guys. I was planning on cutting the sleeving with a hot knife, so that should melt the edges. If not I will melt them with a lighter to keep them from fraying. I'll have to decide how to mark the wires so I don't get the two black ones switched around. I have a feeling I may not have bought enough sleeving though since BG4533 said 10ft was just enough for the power leads. Too bad this thread wasn't around a few hours earlier. :frown:
 
The virtual hideout guide gives good directions. I used a lighter to melt the ends of the sleeving before putting it on and that helped with the ends fraying apart.
 
Be careful that you don't fuse the ends TOO MUCH! They can melt together, then they won't expand enough to get the end over the connectors!

I had this happen the first time I tried doing this, and had to cut the piece a little to get a "fresh" end....
