Anyone install DX8a with a Radeon yet?

Just wanting some feedback.

Is it a backwards step? Improvement? No change?

I have the DX8a installer on the HD, waiting for accolades/horror stories before making the leap.

Go for it. No change whatsoever but one would assume since it's an A release there are some bug fixes. Working fine here.

I heard it's more for fixing international install problems and some buttons not working (I am guessing controllers), no real change to performance/compatability.

I'm reading exactly what you say Hawk. I'm going to stick with 7 until I get a game that needs 8. I always say "If it ain't broke don't fix it*."

*I may not be the creator of that saying.

Well everytime i try and install the dx8a from dx8 it finds some ms streaming video and tries to load it then i get the blue screan and a good hard lock. When i reboot since it didnt finish the install it does it again. So the only way i can get it back to normal is to reinstall windows and then put the first dx8 back on. Then its all good.I dont know whats up.

No probs here with latest Win2K betas and dx8a.

Edit: I can't resist this: WOOT this post made me Senior Member! 😀

Strange.I wonder why it freaks my pc out with the blue screan.Whats the ms streaming video it finds and tries to install on reboot?Thats when it does it.Thanks for any help.

Don't know if it is DX8a or not, but Unreal Tournament in D3D mode will not work on my system with the new beta D3D drivers from Epic. Reverted back to the ones from version 436 and they work great (for D3D that is).
