Anyone in Minneapolis?

Very long time lurker, hardly ever post tho LOL anyways...just got offered a job at a major telecom for a network tech at $43k/yr. Sound OK for the area? I'm in Oklahoma City now, and is quite a bit more than I'm making now, but its cheap as hell here too. I have about 6 years experience, mostly WAN/Frame Relay/IP experience, and some Cisco experience.

Anyway, whats cost of living like? Lots to do there? Hows the dating scene? Bring it on!

P.S. Dont bother telling me how cold it is LOL I already know-

43k is liveable in Mpls. However real estate in the Twin Cities area is quite high. You have to pay 400k+ for a semi-decent 3-bedroom house in a nice area.

Home of the Minneapolis genius (The Artist Known as Prince). Get to Paisley Park for a funky good time!

O(->

depends on where u lvie.. some places u can egt a VERY NICE house for 300k, other places, the said hosue is 500k.... should be fine.

$43 grand a year IN the city is fine. It wont carry as far as in the suburbs (where I grew up) but its decent enough.
(Minneapolis isnt quite as bad as NY or LA.)

I live in the Twin Cities. Pers income taxes here are comparable to CA, maybe even worse. $180K will get you a decent 2BR, 2BA, 1st ring suburban home w/a 2 car detatched garage. Res property taxes are skyrocketing w/no end in sight, as MN is about $4 Billion in the hole. Trafficwise, this is LA w/o the weather or the view. (I know, cuz I am a Bay Area refugee.)

In short, $43K is tight in this market. If you like it where you are, stay there. Personally, I wouldn't make that move for $43K.
