anyone in here go to duke?

I'm trying to pick a college. Right now I'm looking at Berkeley, U of Chicago, Duke, and U of Texas as backup. Assuming I get into all which should I go to? Also any other suggestions for college?

Nobody can really answer that for you. If it were me, I'd choose between U of Chicago and Duke.

If you want to just hop onto the school "ranked" the highest, it would be between Berkeley and U Chicago, with Duke and UT Austin in the second tier. But there are a lot of factors to consider (like the fact that it's much more accurate to look at departments over schools.)

Also - climate, social culture, proximity to home...those may or may not be major factors for you.

Rio Rebel, last I checked Duke is ranked 8 (national univ) which is the highest from his list.
edit: Duke is an ivy-league school btw.

Here are the ranks for the schools you have :
8. Duke University
10. U of Chicago
20. U of California, Berkeley
49. U of Texas, Austin

"source from US News"

But yeah sometimes the rank doesn't mean anything, it depends on which department you want
to go, and other factors that Rio Rebel mentioned.

Well, either my memory is failing, or out of date.

Duke is NOT an Ivy league school. It is very similar, though.

Duke is an ACC school.

Brown, Cornell, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Penn are Ivy League.

What's your major? ...I would choose the school that had the best program in your field of study, but that's just me 🙂 If you are an Econ/Public Policy major like myself, I'll see you in Chicago next Fall 🙂

Personally, I'd say that The Universty of New Jersey in Durham (aka DOOK) is not a wise decision. Try the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it is much nicer. 🙂😉

it depends on what you really want,
ie: environment, education, major, amount you're willing to pay...
my sister chose berkeley over duke and couldn't be happier

probably going todo a pre-law or political science major. however i want a school, where if i back out of that major they'll have a wide variety of other majors to go into (engineering, classical studies, journalism, and other diverse interests).

If you're going for academics, UNC-Chapel Hill is a far worse choice than Dook. For athletics, you're probably better off at UNC.

Then again, I went to Wake Forest.

Duke is suck. Ok, I'm just a bitter Maryland basketball fan hehe. But seriously, it depends on what major you are interested, and how expensive its gonna be. UT is by far your best value, that's where I would be heading, especially if you're in state. I dont believe in spending an insane amount of money for a college education, but I guess it all depends on your financial situation. I dont doubt that any of those schools would provide you with a solid education, as long as you study hard and get good grades, I dont think it really matters all that much.

Depends what you're into. If you want a small liberal arts college, Amherst is the best. If you want the best public school education money can buy, go to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. My girlfriend's at Duke right now... Public Policy major. She loves it. If you're liberal, go to Berkely... if you're more conservative, Duke's the place for you. By the way... generally speaking, it's not a great idea to pick a college based on reputation alone.
