Anyone in Chicago Area get DSL? How much $$$ and how fast?

AT&T Internet service uses the DSL technology. Speed is entirely dependent on how close you are to a telephone switching station. I think it is best to be under 2.5 miles from the station. Closer is better. Check your address at the above site (rivan's post) to find your distance from the switching station.

I am currently on AT&T DSL in the Lakeview area, with a 3.0Mbps. I spoke with them recently and they offer naked DSL for $34.00 per month, which means you don't have a landline and only use the DSL. Just pull up the AT&T site and search for availability in your area, you shouldn't have a problem. If you do, call their 800 number and talk to someone.
