Was wondering how many users of the 8800GT are holding onto them instead of upgrading to a GTX260/280 or a Ati 4850/4870

staying with mine. from what ive seen of the performance, theres not enough of a boost to compel me to upgrade.

i was thinking of possibly going sli when i saw the performance graphs, but then i remembered my other pcie is x4

I'm keeping my 8800GTS. Maybe I'll SLI it if something I'm interested in comes along that doesn't run well at 1920x1200 on a single 8800GTS.

I'm skipping both Nvidia and ATIs new gen cards, even if they become cheaper. Will wait at least another year to see what new stuff may arrive then. The only game that hampers me now FPS wise is Crysis, and this is a game I dont care about very much.

Holding onto my 8800GT as I have a game that requires more. Curious, any idea what you could sell a 8800GT for?

Well, new they're now around $160, so would have to be to the south of that.

Keeping my 8800 GT also, since I don't have the money for a 4870. ;)
Seriously now, I don't have a game that doesn't work great on it on 1680X1050. Oh yes, except Crysis...

Holding on to my 8800GTS. It runs my Set-'n-Forget settings (1280x1024, 4xAA, max everything) for the titles I'll be playing this summer (Mass Effect, GoW, etc.)

If the GTX260 or the Ati 4870 get to about $230-50 I'll bite on one of those. GT's used go for about $120-30. I game at 1680x1050 also and I have to admit the only game I've tried and played is BF2 and that runs max settings perfectly. I downloaded the crysis demo, and well forget that runs pretty crappy. I have to set everything to med no aa or af then its ok. COD4 run pretty good had to turn AA off though. And I have stalker coming friday as well as obilivion. From what I've seen those games will make my GT worrk pretty hard. And if they do that was the reason for my upgrade to either of the above mentioned cards. I like to play max settings with pretty much max AA and AF. And from what I've been hearing both those cards will alow me to do that with easy. But I have to say the GT has been the best video card I've purchased in a longtime. I love the single slot single power connector idea. I was hoping nvidia might come out with a 9800GT but that doesn't look like its going to happen.

I am going to hold on to my 9600GT. I have a 19" monitor and play at 1280 x 1024, so I do not see a need for a new card. Now, if I upgrade my monitor to a 24" LCD, then I will probably need to upgrade my card. Until then, I will keep going with my current 9600GT.

I wish I had an SLI board because if I had an 8800T i'd just toss another 100-130 dollar 8800 in it and call it a day.

I sold my 8800GT and jumped on the 4850 bandwagon when BB had the 4850 for $150 without rebate. I'm regretting it a bit now, mainly because some games are not stable on the 4850 for me. I don't have an SLI board, if I had one, I would have kept my 8800GT and buy another 8800GT to SLI them.

Yeah if I had an SLI motherboard I probably would have gotten another GT and gone SLI. But I have an X48 motherboard and only have DDR3 and their's no way I paying $400 for a nforce 790i motherboard :)

I am sticking with my 8800GT for some time. Thats usually how I roll with computer parts. If I upgraded my monitor to a higher resolution one though, then I'd be inclined to upgrade.

Got my GT for $140, I'm holding onto it until the 260 becomes that cheap. It will happen, only a matter of time :) Plus I figure there's no game I can't play right now so why upgrade?

Are you kidding? My dad had a heart attack when I told him I was getting a $300 videocard. I'm going to kill him if I ask for another one in the same decade!

Sticking to my pair. I paid way too much for them to contemplate buying new GPUs anytime soon.
