Well I did a while back(around a year or so ago)and want to get started back. I used to do like 3 sets of what ever reps I could handle and did this like 3 days in a row and rested a day. Also I waited 3 mins inbetween sets. I did military press, curls, bench, butter flys, sit ups more than anything and sometimes leg lifts but above is what I did all the time.

Well I am wanting to get started back but doing 3 sets of each thing and 3 days in a row burnt me out I did this for close to a year. Is there a way that is easyer and where you can still build pretty fast?

Thanks

The easiest way that I found was going 4x a week, in two 2-day groups. One day you work chest, shoulders, and triceps, the other day you work legs, back, and biceps. If you take a break of at least 1 day between the 2 groups, it should all work out. I used to go Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and it was great. Too bad I blew out my knee :(

I'll be starting to lift in about a week. I'm still waiting for my membership to a local gym to come through (a friend of mine is getting me a deal).

When I start, it'll mostly be aerobic, with light weightlifting (a lot of reps though). I'm hoping to tone, rather than build.

LOL

Well the way I was doing it was really working great. Within a year I got built pretty good my arms mainly they prob got 3 times the size they where before I started. Alot of ppl where telling me it takes at least a year to just start showing good but thats prob the recommended way(3 days a week every other day)

I didnt do any leg lifts much just a little but thats just because I play basketball alot.

I go to the gym 3x per week. I do all the muscle groups each time. Only about 1 or 2 sets though. I'm thinking of adopting a better program soon...

Every night I try to do 80 pushups. Some days I can, some days I can't. I also do 100 situps everynight.

2x a week should be enough, in fact you can still get good gains with 45min workouts once a week. Just follow the HIT program and you'll save yourself a bunch of time... sorry I can't find the link for the HIT workout program

I don't think there really is a right or wrong way to lifting.
After a break from lifting, in order to get me back in shape quick, I go for the body shock. Just go ahead and get a good spotter, and try to do close to your max. Basically, you'll barely be able to put anything up, so your spotter will be doing some work. But in the process, you strain your body like crazy and force the muscle memory to kick back in. After a week of this, I'm usually back in close to top form...

I can get rim on a normal basket ball goal but I still need another 4 to 5 inches before I can get the ball over the rim. Anyone got a tips on how I can gain more height certain way to jump maybe I don't know?

I would like to have a bowflex. I dont go to the gym either I am using a weight bench.

whoa...that's exactly the same boat I'm in. When you get a good excercise, please PM me. I heard putting weights around your neck and jumping around really helps.

Yeah I heard that helps but never tried it. I also heard take a chair or something and put one foot on it the launch yourself into the air as high as you can using one foot then change to the other. Don't know if this works though. But you have to do it pretty fast.

Also another thing I heard was stand on the edge of some steps with the heel of your foot hanging off and just life up as many time as you can. Of course you would prob have to do these 4 or 5 times a week for a month or so before you would see a difference.

Man, I envy you guys... being a little short wrestler doesn't do wonders for your bball game. I've seen a lot of my friends wearing those weights around their ankles for days at a time... not sure if they help. But I tried them out before, and after a couple of hours with them, I felt like I could fly after taking them off. As a polevaulter, I think a lot of this relating to jumping has to do with your coordination and form... you might gain an inch or two just by learning how to jump right.

Although the gains are not garuanteed, this may help you. Go down to your local sports authority or modells or whatever ya got and buy a couple ankle weights. Now whenever you play basketball put these on... it'll feel weird and will be tough at first, but eventually you will get used to it. Just from lay-ups, jump-shots and rebounding you should be helping out your up's a little after using the weights for a while... I dunno but that neck thing sounds kinda dangerous

You need to space out your workouts - 3 days in a row isn't good for you. If you're only working out 3 times per week space it out. And for maximum results, do 8-12 reps for 3 sets for each excercise, at least 2 per bodypart. (Bodyparts are biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, chest, quads, hams, and your core) Your core consists of abs, ribcage, and lower back. Most people have good abs but fail to work their entire core.

The way I was doing it is I would do it like Mon,Tues,Wens then I would rest Thursday then do it Fri,Sat,Sun. But somtimes I would do it for 2 days then rest then start back doing it 3 days and sometimes 4. But I would also sometimes rest 2 days.

Well when I first started I would lift 60 to 70lbs or so 3 sets at 8 to 10 reps every 3 to 4mins and when I quit about a year after I was doing 3 sets of 120lbs at 10 to 14 reps every 3 to 4 mins. I really wish I hadnt quit. I am going to start back here soon but when I do I am gonna try something different like every other day so that I dont get burnt out so fast.

Madcowz is right. I used ankle weights all through highschool and, by the end of my senior year, I had a 39" jump reach. The other thing I did was heel lifts with a heavy barbell accross the shoulders.
