ATI is having an employee purchase program(EPP) for the month of July. You can pretty much get a video card for pretty damn cheap. I'm currently getting ready to build a PCI-E machine and was gonna go with an nvidia card, but if I can get a card cheap enough i'll take the advantage of it.

Price discounts as of follows:

AGP:
Radeon X800XL 256mb | $299.99 ---> $179.40
Radeon X850 XT 256mb | $399.99 ---> $239.40
Radeon X850 XT PE 256mb | $449.99 ---> $269.40
ALL-IN-WONDER X800 XT 256mb | $449.99 ---> $269.40

PCI-E:
Radeon x700 PRO 256mb | $199.99 ---> $119.20
Radeon X800 XL 256mb | $299.99 ---> $179.30
ALL-IN-WONDER X600 Pro 256mb | $249.99 ---> $149.40

TV Tuner CardsTV WONDER ELITE Remote Control | $149.00 ---> $89.40
HDTV WONDER Remote Control | $149.99 ---> $89.40

Looks like i'll be getting the PCI-E X800 XL 😀

What I would do:

1. Find some BestBuy worker
2. Tell him you will pay him $20 if he buy's the Card for you with the cash you have on-hand
3. Watch Worker buy card and pay him $20

Next steps take a que from GTA

4. Wait until said worker get off shift
5. Run up and Tazzer him (or you can get more creative)
6 Take back $20
7. .......
8. Profit!

I believe you have to mail in for the discount...You can't receive it the same way employee cost is received.

It's not instant essentially.. But damn good deal on the X850xt.

Or you could just wait for the "Ati Going Out Of Bussiness" fire sale :shocked: 🙂
seriously, those are some sweet deals though

ATI just wants money...they're good deals, but i'd want them cheaper considering they dont have SM3.0...which i'd want for next gen games, but that might just be me.

Yeah, you actually have to fax the paper to them, kinda weird heh.

Damn, I would definitely go for the X850XT for 240. Any other way to get this deal? I'm fresh out of friends working at BB 🙂.

Don't start a flame fest here too. Your 6600GT can't play current games at any decent settings, I don't expect it to play any next gen games any better than a 9700 plays today's.

It's just you. SM3 isn't worth an extra $100, or 50% on top of the XL.

This has nothing to do with ATi wanting more money.

ATi has offered retail staff purchasing on & off for a couple years to my knowledge; maybe longer.

I just got my X850XT PE thru their deals 🙂 (Previously i'd gotten a 9800 Pro thru it also)
Now to you guys it might not seem great, but i got it for $420 Cdn. + GST/shipping.
Considering they retail for over $700 here in Canaduh (if you actually find a place that has them in stock), i am quite happy with the price i paid 😀

Now i just gotta sell my 6800GT...

Wow.

Those are firesale prices. I suppose they figure "Give away our products to Best Buy employees- when customers come in Best Buy employees will recommend our products".

Intel does this as well.

Do other companys do this as well with best buy? My son works for me right now, but if I could get great deals on new hardware I'd make him go get a job there.

Yeah, Intel does too.

But i don't recommend their products to customers 😉

I have alotta fun with customers that come in wanting to buy an Intel PC because AMDs run too hot & are loud :laugh:
When i tell them what the hottest running CPU on the market currently is, the look of shock on their faces is beautiful :evil:

Yes, most retail store employees get deals on hardware, but the only ones that are actually good deals are the CPU (AMD or Intel) ones, & the ATi video card ones.

Well, my cell plan is half price too, so that's nice also, but that's not computers 😉

Why would employees wanna take $20 or $50 off guys just to buy them these cards.

When in fact they could buy this cards and sell them near their retail price on e bay and make about $100 or more....
