But as a businessowner you still have a boss-your customers. If they don't like your performance you get fired.

"Anything You Want" by Derek Sivers provides some good insight on this. He opted for a larger volume of small customers and opted for quality over quantity of customers so he could have more freedom to do what he wanted with his company.

Not really. I can hire people to deal with customers for retail. I'm never "fired", they just choose not to buy. I put things into place to attract more customers.

I really truly did minimal work when retailing to get orders. Pay for a few advertisements was the extent of it. Only thing that sucked was the time packing the products and dealing with the one or 2 lost orders I had. But like I said, I could eventually pay someone to do that if I was big enough.
