I've been looking for work for more than a month now with very little response from employers. So now I'm thinking maybe I should try for Fedex or UPS. Maybe I can move up once I get my foot in the door.

Is it difficult to get into those jobs? I know in the past I've heard it was'nt hard to get hired on there but with the job market these days I wonder if things have changed.

What's entry level pay for those kind of jobs?

Depends on which branch of Fedex you work for....Fedex Freight which is the LTL division tops out at about $21/hr for forklift drivers. Good opportunities to move up if you are motivated...if you have a degree you could start out as a supervisor which should start out at around $45k/ yr.

You may have to start out as a seasonal in some places. Fortunately I believe it's about to get to the point of the year when they hire seasonal workers.

Entry level isn't so good, but many people I know got in and have stayed there. They make quite a decent wage now after only a few years.

Yeap. UPS Drivers make over $20/hr. (plus ridiculous benefits) with the newest contract plus they usually get as much overtime as they want in busy metro areas.

Yes, now would be a good time to 'get your name in' at a lot of these places as a thrower. They are usually full by the end of October.

UPS tends to put on people part time, during the Christmas rush. Entry pay is not very high and if you do get a delivery driver job, they have to work until the truck is all empty (esp if a residential run). But if you do get to be permanent, then there are some good benefits to be had.

You can try getting your foot in the door at a grocery distribution center like walmart or whatever you local grocery store is. Pay typically starts at ~$15 an hour and it's full time with the chance of overtime.

UPS/Fedex package handlers typically work 4-5 hours a day for ~$9 an hour... you're lucky to pull $200 a week after taxes. I know because a buddy of mine used to work for UPS as a package handler and it wasn't a great job. It's good if you can't find anything else though.
