Anyone here work as or know a technical recruiter?

Have an interview for a position next week. Any words of wisdom? They have a salary+commission+bonus compensation structure of pay that seems quite attractive..

I am fairly close to about half a dozen of them. It's in their best interest to get you as good of a job as possible. It makes them money, makes them look good and gets them more business the better you are and the harder you work. Just make a good impression and be honest with them like in any other interview situation. Some of my headhunters have had job descriptions changed to better match me. They'll do stuff like that if they like you.

try to play up your sales experience if you have any... that;s why i didn't get the job as a tech recruiter

You want to work as a technical recruiter, or you have an interview with one for some technical position?

Gotcha.

In a way, it's sales and social networking, but it also has a lot to do with the ability to accurately judge both resumes and people. You need to be able to find the right person for the job, and weed out people who pad their resumes with buzzwords and other BS to make themselves seem like something they're not.

If you keep forwarding bad candidates to employers, you won't get very far.

Any idea how the commission system works? Would I get a percentage of their salary's or what? The base salary seems to be around 36-40k..

The ones I've known get a percentage of contract positions, or a more flat fee for perm job placements.

I knew one guy who was a lazy sack, but had enough contractors out that he pulled in ~$70K and did nothing for almost a year. He was burned out and wanted to quit life and become a snowboarding bum, which he eventually did, but it took him a while since he was making good money doing literally no work.
