Anyone here with Field Engineering experience?

I just got a job offer to make a whole bunch more money than I am now, but its a pretty rough job from what I hear. One of the slogans for the job is "Tired of working in an office? Wanna get your hands dirty and wear steel toe boots?". I figure I would like the job since I am single and willing to relocate pretty much anywhere, and I also dont like sitting around in an office all the time (plus not having to wear dress shirts and ties is a plus). My atot post count is probably gonna drop big time though 😉 I would also like getting the excersise.

Anyone have any experience doing this?

I've got many years in the construction trades, but you'll need to be a bit more specific < or they do> about the description. Logging? oil field related? 😕

While I wasn't personally in the field, I did work at Halliburton with some field people. Based on my second hand information - expect long days as the norm, with many of them exceedingly boring as you babysit equipment that rarely needs any attention. It didn't sound like there was much in the way of "heavy lifting" involved, but you would definitely have the opportunity to get off the beaten path.

Cool, I accepted the job. Gonna be kind of weird workin for the oil field (I swore I would not do this in college), but whatever, the pay is good. I start training in october, better start getting use to not sleeping lol.
