Anyone here with a Canon ZR series camcorder?

I'm seriously thinking of getting into the career of filmmaking and so I need a good camcorder to make some movies. The Canon cameras looks sweet, and I'm thinking of getting this one to start off and learn how to make movies.

Are the Canon ZR series cameras any good? Is there anything better for about that same price? Is this a good camera to start off with?

I want to hear from people who have experience in this field. What would you suggest to a young mind who wants to become a filmmaker? I am going to take a filmmaking class next year in high school btw(senior year).

Also, any kinds of tips for a future filmmaker would be appreciated

My advice: don't get it if you plan on filming indoors... period. Really really grainy footage indoors... go with a Sony TRV22 instead.

Thanks for the input. I plan on filming a lot indoors so I really don't want grainy video. I'll check out the Sony. Thanks

I checked out the Sony. It's a bit over my budget. The most I can spend on a camera is $499

You can get the lower end version... TRV19 for around $480 at Best Buy I believe... has the same lens and all that jazz as the TRV22, but not as many features.

i have the zr70 model and it does suck really bad at low light conditions. Sony would be your best bet for indoors.

You should try to get one of the newer generation megapixel Sony vid cameras so all the detail in your porn movies comes through!
