Is your home computer network wireless? I am thinking of going wireless, how is it? Much better then being wired before? I don't have a laptop but two pcs connected together. Is it still worth going wireless? Thanks.

My desktops (4 of them) are all wired, but the two laptops are wireless. I really see no reason to make the desktops wireless since they are not mobile.

Im wireless. I have a laptop and 2 pc's. We've been wireless for about a year. it cost us $350cdn to do it. Personally i dont see the point in going wireless for just pc's if they are going to be in the same room. But if you are going to have them in different locations its definitely better than running wires.

My network is both wired and wireless. Wireless equipment is cheap online, if you know where to look. I have a desktop computer with a wireless PCI card that is used for watching movies on our TV. I can transfer at about 3 mbps to it. That isn't terribly fast, considering that I have standard 802.11b hardware, and I am connected at 11 mbps. However, it gets the job done, and it is pretty reliable.

I bought a wireless router for $40, and two desktop PCI cards for $30 a piece. I don't have a laptop, but PC Card adapters were $30 a piece also.

They are not in the same rooms, I have a long wire going across the hall from one room to another. Just thought wireless would be much better for it.

Who makes the best wireless hardware?

are the 2 pc's connected together far away from your cable modem? I would think that the only reason a person would need wireless is only if the computers needing to get online are far apart, or if you want to be able to get online while your in the bathroom or something with your laptop.

I don' have wireless, but I think that since it is wireless, it will never be as fast as being wired, so be prepared for that....

wireless = a must, for laptops at home 😀

with two desktops, it's just a matter of convenience and price, IMO.

That's what I'm concerned about. Degraded performance.

Well i have wireless on a desktop, my cable modem is in a differnt room, and i have 2 desktop's seperated by 100 feet, wireless is a great solution for this.

wireless is great gets about 1.5 - 2 MBit i am happy with it. from my ~4 Mbit peak cable.

I'm sure that you'll gat various answers on who makes the best hardware. Netgear, Linksys, D-Link?

I have a cheap Adaptec router and it does OK. I'm sure that others do better, but for the price, I couldn't complain!
