For some reason, I had skipped over Berserk a while ago, so I decided to finally check it out. Honestly, I don't get what all the hype is about. Maybe, I just need to watch more, but after the first episode, I'm not really all that enthralled to watch it to begin with. It's not that it's bad, but I don't really see what makes it so good.

I'm also going through and checking out a few other somewhat older shows that people usually recommend that I've passed over. Another is Shakugan no Shana, which I'm not sure how I feel about either.

For some reason, I had skipped over Berserk a while ago, so I decided to finally check it out. Honestly, I don't get what all the hype is about. Maybe, I just need to watch more, but after the first episode, I'm not really all that enthralled to watch it to begin with. It's not that it's bad, but I don't really see what makes it so good.

the first berserk series was very well done, right on up to the point where they caught up to the manga.

the series pulled a gungrave and started with a present day gambit which then flashed back to the start of it all. as a slow build through strong dramatic twists it is really well done. the problem is you dont get any of the supernatural stuff until the end. so unless you are willing to sit through 20+ ep of medieval gangs climbing up the feudal ladder, you feel like you got bait'n'switched.

the new series should be good, but i havent really looked into who's behind it. i do know the manga goes really dark after the main fall.

I never seen Berserk, people keep telling me the Manga is the best in the world lmao. I might watch episode 1 later today or tomorrow. Maybe I should watch it in ENG dub? People say the dub is good. Not sure.

This is a series that I'd like to see more of, but I'm not 100% sure if we'd get another season or if the backstory would even be good. To be fair, the best part of the series was the episodic stuff where the whole memory thing wasn't a big deal. My favorite episode was the one with the truth pill -- I laughed so hard!

Cross Ange - Rondo of Angels and Dragons

Does this get much better? I watched the first few episodes, but the heavy focus on ecchi was a bit too much for me. It also doesn't help that the main character is so unlikable. I get that's the point, because she starts off in low favor, but I assume she works her way up (in the eye of the viewer). However, it's hard to put up with it for a while.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon

I like the characters in this series ("Aiz Wallen-what's-it!" :biggrin, but the story seems to be going in an odd direction. It also doesn't help that season one ends without really going anywhere in the story, and I don't know if we're even getting a season two. Ultimately, I'm a sucker for a character that refuses to give in, which is probably why I hated series like Deadman Wonderland where the main character remains a wuss for the whole story.

Nisekoi

Did you also watch season two? ("Nisekoi:") Nisekoi is a fun series that has a good smorgasbord of characters and doesn't have too much ecchi.

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou

I liked this series for a while, but the end... ugh... the characters just became annoying.

Pretty sure Sonic is a dude. There aren't too many main females in One Punch Man. The ones I can recall off the top of my head are Tatsumaki and her sister, Blizzard. One thing that's cool about the manga is that it has a ton of side-stories to it, and they kind of went into some of those. For example, there's a story where you get to see Blizzard and her group of B-class heroes go up against this creature, then Tatsumaki comes, then Saitama comes. The end is pretty good.

I read up on all the manga shortly after that post from the the original author ONE on manga town. It was up to episode 104 I think.

Anyhow, Sonic is still drawn by the original author very female like. Guessing just metro sexual, but was waiting for that to be a plot turn/twist revealing Sonic to be a girl in the series since there isn't very many females in the series at all.

Definitely! KyoAni did a great job on this one!

I would rank it on par with Valvrave - it's Sunrise, it's mecha, it's worth a watch / try.
Of course I told myself the same thing about AGE and Reconguista...

Yup, sure did! Loved both seasons!

Definitely a real treat to listen to / watch on a good HT system, and left as strong an impression as Clannad.

If you liked Nodame Cantabile, you'll like Your Lie in April as well; it's also a music-centered series, though I guess in terms of tone, Nodame is more like Clannad and Your Lie in April is more like Clannad : After Story.

Nodame Cantabile's Paris arc's ED is killer though. Who can not like Emiri Miyamoto?

So, the new anime season has commenced, and I've begun watching hopefuls to see if I can find some good, new series to watch! I haven't watched too many yet, but I'll give some thoughts...

Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu - Mm... I don't really know what to say about this one. I feel like it should be something that I like, but I just wasn't really pulled in by the characters. Maybe it's because the premise reminds me of Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, but the characters aren't even close to being as fun? Maybe it's because the premise of the first episode was kind of obvious? I might give it another episode just to see if it's worth it.

Dagashi Kashi - Now, this is what I expected the last one to be like! You've got fun outlandish characters, silly situations, and a potentially interesting premise. The show is about the son of a candy store owner, and in typical fashion, his father wants him to take over the family business. However, his son just wants to draw manga. Well, a large candy company wants the father to work for them, but he can't do so until his son promises to take over, and the person that they sent is determined to make sure that happens. It doesn't sound like that premise would match how I described it above, but you'll just have to watch it to see what I mean.

Unfortunately, a lot of series seem to be like this, eg. The World God Only Knows (Manglobe went kaput), D-Gray-Man (to be fair, manga writer taking her own sweet time), Problem Children, No Game No Life, etc.

Yeah, I've heard some comments that it's just the nature of the anime beast, and unfortunately, some Japanese companies have no desire to change. Apparently, that's the reason why we have so little Gundam here anymore. I don't pay much attention to the Japanese anime scene, but from what I heard, Bandai just didn't care for how different things are here when it comes to retail -- mostly the pricing. In Japan, you'll pay about $60-70 for FOUR episodes. In just about every other part of the sane world, we would expect to pay that much for an entire 24-26 episode series.

Apparently, sometimes, they just make anime to help boost the popularity of the manga. If the manga sales don't need a boost, there may not be a reason for another season. :\

Oh, I agree that they were good... in the beginning. I forget exactly what bugged me as the show went on, but I think it's that the main character became too whiny. "Wah... you're so popular, and nobody likes my shitty games! WAH!" You can only accept a whiny protagonist for so long!!

Now, if you want a series like that one that I think was done better, you should check out Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi - This was one of the ones that I marked as a maybe for this season, but I think it has the potential to be a stand-out seinen show. The show features a 29-year-old failing manga artist who has this weird, uncontrollable ability to see a tragic event before it occurs. It's kind of like Final Destination, but in this case, the bad thing doesn't involve him but rather someone around him. I don't want to say much about the first episode, but he eventually reverts all the way back to being an elementary school student to attempt to solve the murder of two of his classmates.

Well, the specials for Grisaia (Kajitsu, Meikyuu, Rakuen) ventured damned close to the line of outright hentai
