Started watching One Punch Man. Seems like there's a handful of episodes out so far, maybe like 10 or so.

It's pretty good, silly and fun, and reminds me a lot of Bleach's comic relief portions. The fights are pretty good and the characters are unique. The way the story is going, it's making me hopeful that there will be some insane baddies in the near future.

one punch is an amazing series, even the meta is fascinating.

one(author) started it as a webcomic, mostly gag considering how bad his art skills are. yusuke murata(the mangaka of eyeshield 21) discovered it and got in contact with one over twitter. eventually they got together and redid the series with the better art. the really interesting part for me is that the original one art, while rudimentary and rough, is composed and paced absolutely perfectly. so other than his inability to do finished art, his layout and frame composition is dead on as far as storytelling goes.

there is an animated gif of saitama and sonic juxtaposing the anime and the manga, its from different chapters so they really cant be compared. but it does show how much effort murata puts in.

the original one series is up there around 100+ chapters, the SJW series is around 50. the anime should get through to the big
invasion
arc if they get 13 ep.

That's a good place to end it since that
includes the only fight -- that I've seen/read -- where Saitama had to use more than one punch to take out an opponent.
Although, I tend to enjoy the gag stuff more often than when the series gets really serious. While you can claim that it's one note, I always enjoy it when someone thinks Saitama is really weak because of his rank, then gets all  when they see his real strength.

Real question.......... who is stronger? Goku or Saitama!!!!! :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

OPM is sooo overrated. It's taking over nearly all the popular Anime as of right now. Overrated? No it's not. SOmeone prove me wrong.

the only problem with ending it there is that the 2nd season will pickup in the middle
of the more idle arcs where not much happens. there wont be any big buildups until later. starting off S2 with 6 eps of king, fubuki, dojo, and the hero association stuff wont really satisfy those used to the almost weekly epic battles of OPM s1.

Haikyuu S2 has almost the same problem. they are actually having to rearrange scenes as well as create semi-filler scenes to ease viewers into the slower flow(to their credit they are using the new scenes to foreshadow some upcoming stuff but still it is a very different pace). S1 had a very tight pacing when it came to ramping the intensity with each episode.

I think it will be an issue with anyone expecting One Punch Man to be the next Dragon Ball Z, but stuff like
Garo, which is what I assume you're talking about when you mention the dojo, will probably be good for fans looking for some fighting. I'm actually in that arc right now in the manga.
Ultimately, if people get a bit unhappy with the show, then that means they have unrealistic expectations of it. The show has always come across as far more of a gag anime than a shounen fighting anime.

Yeah, Haikyuu has gotten pretty slow this season, but I think that's partly because they did so much during the first season. I mean... they went through the introduction of the characters, the inevitable issues that arise from that, the training stuff, and the first major tournament all in 24 episodes. It's like Nanatsu no Taizai sort of speed! (Nanatsu's anime covered over 100 chapters in 24 episodes.)

Speaking of Haikyuu, I need to watch episode 8!

i'm generally referring to format. right now the episode pacing format is light gag at slow to medium tempo with a tentpole action scene with big showy animation somewhere either at the beginning or end. it doesnt always have to be the big bad enemy fight with the precursor dramatic buildup(ie genos vs saitama practice) but each ep typically delivers a tentpole that most viewers appreciate and look forward to.
the stuff after invasion generally doesnt have that many scenes where the animators can go all out. which would make S2 kind of lacking in that quick fix of visual 'awsum like hawkeye'-ness

haikyuu S1 did about 72 chapters in 25 episodes. if they stay at that pace S2 will reach somewhere around ch 150 if they lay off the filler. the problem is that its currently at ch183
and the tournament isnt over. they would need another 10-12 ep to wrap up the spring interhigh prelims
.

Finally got around to Gundam Build Fighters.
Pleasantly surprised after the suckiness of AGE and Reconguista.

the build series have been the stand out of all the recent gundams. Build Fighters and Build Fighters Tri are consistently well done and entertaining. my personal favorite is the original Gunpla Builders Beginning G OVA series (big zam vs sazabi .... FIGHT!).

Just started watching Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and have to say it is nice to see another good Gundam series out :)
It is a lot grittier / less colorful - art style is reminiscent of 90s Gundam shows like Wing, 08th MS, etc.

Hibike Euphonium, Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni "Shomin Sample" Toshite Gets♥Sareta Ken, and Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry were all pretty decent this season.

And of course one punch man.

Loved One Punch Man. I really hate that it was only 12 episodes, but hopefully they'll give it more seasons.

As for the old shows, my favorite will always be Slayers.

Went through a few animes this weekend as I was stuck at home watching over my wife and kid for medical reasons and thus couldn't really game. So watched anime and read manga on my phone.

One Punch man. Watched the 13 episodes and then read the manga. Loved it all. Just hilarious. So is Sonic really a girl or boy? They draw him/her very feminine but I think he's a boy? Strange enough. Also guessing there was something beyond his barely normal strength training regimen that lead to Saitama's strength that even he isn't aware of but which we'll eventually find out as a twist I hope. If not, it's still funny.

I also watched Gate and read the manga up to the latest. Decent enough I suppose, but still standard harem style action manga.

Before those two the last thing I watched/read was Overlord. Like that one as well.

I haven't seen or read much of anime or manga beyond those 3 in a few years. Besides rewatching all the dragonball/z/gt/movies with my wife the past 6 months every night as she never saw them all and wanted to. I already saw al those years ago, but it's fun rewatching them with the wife for her to see many of them for the first time.

I will say One Punch Man is probably my favorite new Japanese style story in a long while though.

yeah wasnt sure how informed this crowd was.

SJ= Shonen Jump, primary publication of shueisha publishing.
WSJ or SJW: weekly Shonen Jump feature home for most popular kids series. home for one piece, naruto, bleach, fairy tail, and all the big names.
monthly SJ
jump SQ
weekly young jump

still enjoying Haikyuu!, even if they are trimming out more than a few scenes. little upset that they are only giving S2 25 ep. 10 more and they could have had a nice clean wrap up.

I don't normally go for sports-centered series, but Haikyuu!! was great!
Also, nothing to make you appreciate the efforts of encoders / subbers like rolling your own.
Finished an enhanced encode of GiTS:SAC yesterday, beats commercial BDs :)
