Anyone here w/ a Thinkpad laptop?

I need some help... Updated my Software Installer on my T41 about 3-4 days ago and now when connecting to the server for updates, it spends 20 mins searching and never seems to reach the server...

Just curious if i'm the only one w/ this problem using the latest software installer...

OK, now I get bars on my SI. It goes about 1 bar a second for 6 seconds, then nothing happens.

Give it some time, sometimes the update servers don't respond. Also reboot and try again

I've been trying for 5 days now, still nothing...

Are you attempting this from work? Most of that IBM support stuff resides on ftp which in many/most companies is access-blocked at the firewall. - if this is the case take it home and try from there.

Tried in 3 locations, home, work, and school...

Looks like there is a big thread over at thinkpads.com with people having the same prob.

I finally ran Software Updater on my T42 a few days ago. It updated itself and connected to the servers just fine; this was at home. Maybe DL new version, uninstall current, install new, and try?
