I've had three serious relationships... boyfriend #1 I met at a frat party, boyfriend #2 I met while rollerblading around U of M's campus, boyfriend #3 I met at www.asiafriendfinder.com. He wasn't Asian, but oh well.
Boyfriend #1 lasted 3 months, he was a jock jerk.
Boyfriend #2 lasted 3 months, he was a dumb (cute but painfully empty up top) jerk.
Boyfriend #3 lasted 2 years, he was one of the sweetest guys I've ever known.
Needless to say, I'm all for online dating services... it's nice being able to chat with and get to know a prospective partner/friend before actually meeting up. I'm still a member of AFF, always looking for new people to chill with - there are a LOT of kooks out there, but definitely a couple diamonds in the rough. I've met a few people from message boards I post at, too (and will meet one from ATOT soon enough - I hope). It's all in good fun.

Hmmmmmm... i agree with happykitten. Online dating is kinda beneficial cause you get to filter out the incompatible ones and pick the right one, or at lease you think you did.

I totally disagree. on line dating is not good. I mean for example. I can send you pics off me however you want me to look.. all day long. I can act a certain way, I can say I am from china. austrailia, canada what ever you get the point.. I mean seriously. You can never truly know for sure what you are getting into. I mean yes I am sure there are many hoenst people on line. But come on.. How many hot chicks truly sit at their computer looking for a guy.. If your not looking for a hot chick then date on line. Like i said you could meet the love or lie of your life..

Let me give you a more personable experience..
I use ICQ, I made the accident of leaving my place of werk in my details.. Well this happened more than once.. This huge fat chick came into my job asking for me.. said she like my "Quote and wanted to meet me" OMG talk about embarassed.. all my co workers still kid me about that.. I mean how many of you woudl actually go to a ladies place of werk just to meet her b/c you liked her details..
I understand maybe going up there to peep her out. but actually pull her aside and tell her you are in love with her b/c of what you read on her details.
The net is nothing more than a place to be something you will never be IRL......
I have ruled this true in many cases.
The guys on line who talk tuff are usually guys who got beat up or were the school weakling..
SO IMHO i say internet 99% is fake. If you find one that works out you are one of the few with exception with mail order bride i guess.

I know quite a few "hot girls" with ads on the 'net... I've met a few of them (and encouraged the others to join Talia ring a bell?), and we've partied together. It's hard for me to really get out and meet new (interesting/diverse) people, especially with 60-80 hour work weeks and no car. Online is fine for me. I usually exchange a few e-mails with a person, and if I feel comfortable, they can give me a call (or I'll call them). If we click and I'm comfortable, then we meet and chill.
I've had one horror story, but I won't get into that right now. All in all, the benefits have far outweighed the costs (asiafriendfinder is a free service - most of them are, for females, anyway), and I'm having fun.
