I got one recently, but it seems like my old v120c has better voice quality and reception :disgust: and I am using 120c right now.

How's your LG 4400 work?

This is a geek board.. There's no cell guru's? impossible!...

Anyways, why does it suck more than my two year old v120c ?
:brokenheart:

lol... but howard forums has cell phone geeks... 😛

anyway... my neighbor just bought the LG 4400 yesterday... sounded ok... signal wasnt too bad. but i have cingular so i can't really compare.

My old POS Nokia got about 4x better reception than my VX4400.

For the amount of features and "hackability", the 4400 was worth the $50 I paid for it. But the redial gets a lot of use due to almost every call being dropped.

So what value is there in a phone that can't do what it's supposed to do well at all, but have hackability and extra features?
Isn't that like a car with a lot of features with a troublesome engine?

What is this...."hackability" that you speek of??

ive got no problems with my vx4400. all my friends have it also, sounds fine. i try and keep the software updated on it also. if you need to update it, go to a verizon store and ask them to flash your phone to the newest version. ive owned a lg510, lg vx10, 4400, and im going to skip the 6000 and wait to see what else verizon throws. but the vx4400 works fine for me for the time being. sounds good and clear.

I hear fine. Other end complains I sound odd when I use the 4400. Battery life is mediocre. Reception: switches into analog all the time.

v120c is equally clear on my side, better transmitted audio quality, much better battery life and it doesn't jump back and forth between digital and analog.

6000 is supposed to be the end-all of phones with monster reception and battery life.
I have a Moto v60 and it pisses me off b/c it always drops calls and goes to analog.

ATTN CELL PHONE MAKERS: NO ONE USES ANALOG ANYMORE. STOP IT.

I have a friend that uses the 4400 and he doesn't have any of the issues that you're speaking of, at least as far as reception is concerned. Don't have any personal experience with it though as I use a Samsung A310 myself and I think I've seen it switch to analog once and that was while I wasn't on a call. The rest of the time it maintains a signal strength of 3 bars or above along with a digital signal.

if you live a good digital area, you can force the mode to only use digital, and not even switch to analog. it'll help your reception and preserve your battery more.

from the main screen the left soft key (menu), then at the main menu, hit '0'. it should ask for a service code. input: 000000. now you should be in a 'services' menu. hit 3 (force mode), and change it to 'CDMA only'. click 'OK' on your phone, and just CLR back, and viola! your phone will only use digital frequencies now!

if you're having issues with the 4400 bring it in to a store and have the tech swap it out for a new one. the 4400 is one of verizon's most reliable phones

from my experience, "newer" phones do not guarentee better reception or voice quality. Check out howardforums to see if anyone else has the same issues as you do. I'm not an expert on LG's or Motorola's. All I know are Sprint's line of phones
