Anyone here use tornadoes as case fans?

I was thinking... Maybe getting 5 80mm tornadoes (vantec) and putting them on a rheobus for my case fans (1 intake 1intake/hd cooler 2 exhaust 1 side intake and a 92mm tornadoe on my slk 900a

Is this just insane or would it make a badass cooling solution? Could I keep noise down with the rheobus? OR should I just use the regular 80mm fans I have now and put just atornadoe on a rheobus on my processor

Well, it's certainly a bad ass cooling solution... Even though you won't be able to hear it after a few minutes from the decibel level... I'd stick with one Tornado, personally, does your case REALLY need five fans pumping out 84.1CFM?

Hmmm I see what you mean. However I love my new antec 1080amg and I really dont want to have to cut it up to mount those fans

80 mm tornadoes will have to do...

Although I might have to bolt my case down. It might take off.

Seriously though....................... I dont NEED it, im just curious to see what people think.

See, my hard drive still seems hot even with an 80mm fan on it. I was hoping the tornadoe would help

I don't think you'd gain anything from that. Diminishing returns and whatnot. Plus, even when you turn a tornado all the way down w/ a fan controller, they're still loud!

Uhh...You would probably regret doing that.

My case has 6 80mm fans and I have tried several setups.
Currently I am using Panaflo H1A's and am very happy with the results.
Originally it had cheap Atlas fans and I gained a couple of degrees when I switched to this setup from another case. I was quite pissed since the other case was only using 2 case fans! (92mm and 120mm Panaflo)

Anyway I bought 6 Enermax adjustable fans and installed them. I dropped about 2 degrees C @ full power. Not a substancial performance increase considering the amount of air and noise added. But I stuck with this setup for a while (rheobuses weren't yet available)

After several upgrades to computers in my house I currently have 4 PC's in my home/office. Now silence has become a REAL issue.
So I went online and bought several Panaflo L1A and H1A's. This proved to be money well spent. I decreased (quite massively) noise and maintained cooling.

I suppose if you wanted hardcore airflow Panaflo make a U1A which puts out about 48CFM, but I would definately put them on a rheobus.

If it looks like I am partial to Panaflo it's because I AM! After using several brands I am convinced that there is no standard for measuring db output for fans and of the brands I have used the Panaflos are by far the quitest.

Now if only Panasonic would make a 70+CFM fan for my SLK-800U I could get rid of the SF-2 that is the loudest fan I have!

I had a couple of Tornadoes in my case. BIG MISTAKE.... WAY TOO LOUD. So loud that is disrupts your entire office environment and then you have to turn your speaker volume way up to hear the games you are playing.

That fan has no practical use. Even if you buy a fan controller, what is the point of the extra horsepower if cannot use it. In contrast to cars, where I'll still take the fastest car I can get regardless of what the speed limit is!

I bought four tornados about a year ago, not knowing just how loud they really were. I put them all in my case and powered up, needless to say, my computer could be heard from anywhere in the house.

I have two tornadoes on a rheobus in my case. They are on the front intake and rear exhaust. I pretty much keep them at the minimum setting the rheobus allows and they make less noise then my server with a 10k SCSI disk in it that sits behind me. I also have 2 Vantec Stealths in the side of the case and 1 in the top. It doesn't hover or anything... But, like I said, I keep the Tornadoes at the lowest setting on the rheobus. So, when summer time comes and the house heats up, I can just crank 'em up a little and my case keeps it's cool...

Remember that all that cooling is only going to bring the inside of your case closer to ambient temperatures. Get a temperature probe and see how warm the inside of your case is in relation to the temp of your room.

Try one of these and see just how much better temps could be inside your case. I was surprised on my setup. I really don't benefit more than a few degrees by having more than 2 80mm L1as @ 7v.
