Or know someone that does, ie, girlfriend, wife, etc? I am looking into it, and so far, it seems like a really great idea. I just wanted to know if there were any drawbacks to it, that I might want to consider. I am going to see my doctor about it this month, but its always nice to hear from other people, what they think about something.

no, but i can't imagine how it would differ in side effects than any other form of b.c.; that is to say, it would still effect your hormones, release steroids into you, etc. i went off the pill a few months ago and feeling a lot healthier.

My fiancee has had good luck so far with ortho-cyclen so I think we'll stick with that.

The patch seems like it'd be annoying, always having a sticker stuck on your butt (or wherever).

My wife uses ortho-evra. It works wonderfully! She gets only a slight upset stomach at the beginning of each cycle, but that's about the only side effects I've noticed.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere about side effects associated with the patch that were not associated with the pill. Obviously, this is why you consult your doctor first. :)

I did a quick search but can't find any information, so I may just be misremembering.

edit:

There is no epidemiologic data available to determine whether safety and efficacy with the transdermal route of administration would be different from the oral route.

So, I guess you get to find out for yourself when you start taking it.

When my wife used the pill, she had some weight gain. No such side effect with the patch. :)

My wife tried it and it made her sick, so she went back to the pill. She's never had a problem with the pill.

The shot works for some, but it destroys others. Depo Provera horror stories.

I took ortho-tricyclen for 3 months... gained 15 pounds, broke out constantly (guess I'm that 1/5 whose skin it makes worse, not better), and was severely depressed. That pill didn't work out for me, and I was looking into the patch, too. Lowest dosage possible.

I won't even mess with Depo, no way, like Dezign said, lots of horror stories.

Spooon: yeah, I have a doctors appt also, figured I would have backup in case ATOT didn't have all the answers for me. ;) Thanks btw, thats the kind of stuff I want to know. Don't want to take it and end up with an extra head.

My wife just started using it this week, and there were no immediately noticeable side effects.

My g/f has been taking ortho tricyclen (sp?) for about 5 months now and she's pissed about the weight she's gained (and she must be in the 20% that get more acne, not less). Is it true that with the patch, chicks dont gain weight?

And for those ladies that were on it and have since stopped takin ortho tri... have you lost weight since?
