One of my friends was telling me that he was taking it because of exams, so that he could focus on studying. Does anyone have experience with it? cause from what he has told me, it doesn't sound too bad.

A prescription drug helps him study? It is give to people with severe ADHD. I suggest you don't mess with it.

Yeah I wasn't really that sure about it, but he said it was great stuff. I would probably never take it myself, I was just wondering if this was just the experience of one person or if that is what it is like for anyone else.

"It's synthetic speed/heroin...one of the two... "

You hear this often, but what does it really mean?
:)

It IS speed.
But, it IS also called for in many cases.
It has enabled me to go to medical school.
Tobacco and alcohol are the real drugs we need to worry about, but we seem to spend more time worrying about Marijuana and Ritalin.

ritalin - addictive, many doctors now think that it was prescribed too liberally in the past.

Tobacco <-----100 time more addictive, worse for you, and has NO benefits, but no scrip is required.

If every kid in America was on Ritalin, so what.
Think about it.
What do think is going to happen?
Grades and eye hand coordination would both go up.
They would be a little better at counter strike.

Sometimes Ritalin is abused. Many times there is a reason to take it.
Tobacco is always abused. There is never any reason to take it.

We, as a society, need to think carefully about drugs, in cluding Ritalin, alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco.

perhaps, as a society. personally though, i think they should all be legalized. well at least all of the ones that won't cause them to freak out and rob me and stuff. as long as they're the only ones being hurt, i don't really care.

if you DO happen to do it:
1. don't snort more than a 1/4 at a time
2. pace yourself. snorting gets addictive because it's fun

but in all seriousness, don't do it. grades aren't THAT important that you have to mess with your brain cells. and besides, it's nothing that a bit more time-efficiency couldn't prevent.

That's sort of a Ritalin apologist statement. Nicotine isn't 100 times more addictive than Ritalin, and it obviously has benefits or nobody would smoke. Those benefits come with a price, though, much like I suspect we will discover of Ritalin users after 40 years of taking Ritalin. :Q

Never been called a Ritalin appologist before.

Nicotine IS 100 times more addictive than Ritalin.
Nicotien and Heroin are equally addictive.

THERE IS NO BENEFIT TO SMOKING; THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE DO IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE ADDICTED.

It may be healthier to not use Ritalin than to use it for 40 years, but what about the benefits?
Mentally, it can change people's lives for the better.

I prefer a beer or two. That usually seems to calm me down/put me to sleep. :D :D

[disclaimer = I am over 21. I do not encourage or endorse underage drinking. My liability for any underage drinking silliness has thus been waved] ;)

Hey, today is a good day!

<< Nicotine IS 100 times more addictive than Ritalin. Nicotien and Heroin are equally addictive. >>

Well, so sayeth the highly abstract methods of "measuring" addiction, which were devised more for political than clinical reasons. Thousands of people who smoke for 5, 10, 20...years quit cold-turkey every day, claim it wasn't as hard as they thought, and didn't go out and rob anyone. Try that after using heroin everday for 12 months. Nicotine doesn't influence dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens shell to the extent that heroin does, and the nucleus accumbens shell is the brain's hot spot for addiction.

<< THERE IS NO BENEFIT TO SMOKING; THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE DO IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE ADDICTED >>

The benefit is obviously the dopaminergic pleasure, else it wouldn't be addicting. I'm sorry your life is so crappy that you don't consider pleasure a benefit.

True........If you are already addicted.

I'm not sure insulting me makes you more persuasive.

Ritalin is decent, but not my drug of choice. Many of my friends us it to study with as it does seem to help a number of people calm down and focus.

However, it can also be snorted. Grind it up and snort it. The effects are pretty good. For a couple weeks, we had a bottle some guy left when he moved out. We would crush up a pill or two before we went out to the bars. It really clears the way for that second and third beer to attack.

However, I've seen plenty of friends get into Ritalin, then Xanax, then they become complete pill heads. Watch out for that. Pillheads are generally no fun and become paranoid that they don't have enough pills. They also become sluggish (generally) and zoned out b/c of all the V's and X's they take.
