I am not talking about the tax programs, just the ones that mange your moeny, pay bills online and stuff. How well do they work, how secure are they? I had gotten Quicken Basic for free this past tax season, I never installed, but I am thinking about it now.

It's ok if you really care that much about your accounts.

I've used it off and on. It's just too much hassle to keep track of all that stuff in a concrete system. I just track it in my head now.

I use Quicken 2002 Deluxe.

I don't use the online banking portion of it though.

Its very handy. Projects how much taxes your going to pay, what your refund will be among many other things.

I use Quicken 2003 Deluxe and have used every version of Quicken since the v2.0 days. I call on the Quicken Gods to tell me when I can buy stuff. I am totally reliant on the program. I have backups of backup of backup of my Quicken Data.

Hello, I am SgtBUddy and I am a Quicken addict.

I'm a CPA and I've been using Quicken for about 6 years.

All of my checking and credit card transactions are in it, as well as, stock transactions.

Love it. I can go back and see how much I paid for something, where I got it etc. etc.

It even saved me a vacation day at work when I showed my boss that I had bought lunch at work when he had me down for a vacation day.

Also makes bank & credit card reconciliations a breeze.

I've heard MS Money is good too but I'd rather support a vendor other than MS.

I've been using Quicken deluxe ( first 98 and now 2002 ) for a number of years, it's a great program for keeping track of all your financial accounts. Once you get it set up it doesn't take long to keep it up to date as long as you stay on top of it, a few minutes two or three times a week is usually all it takes.

As far as security, it of course has password protection which should keep your average snoop out of it but a really knowledgeable hacker, I don't know!

I've been using it for 6+ years now. It's great to know where you're spending your money.
